Across the pond... and back again.

A current Florida Gator temporarily relocated to the west of Ireland..

15 June 2006

Bbbbbbbulmers.

In light of events recently, I probably shouldn't have gone out... nonetheless, I did. And I had a really good time.. until after the night was through.

I went to a local hotel bar to watch the World Cup match of Germany versus Poland (go Poland!).. Ultimately, Poland lost to Germany in the last 2 minutes of the 90 minute game (1-0, Germany). Damn. I started out the night with some delicious Bulmer's Cider.. ahh so good. The Irish lads proceeded to teach me and Ottawa Joe the 'proper' use of Irish slang.. from various areas of Ireland. Jaysus, Mary, and Joseph. That's class.

And I quickly learned the Irish system for drinking in groups - each person in a group buys a round.. and keeps going until everyone has purchased a round. I should have realized that would result in a very sloppy Gator.

Quite a few rounds later, the group decides to buy one more drink -- and this time, not Bulmer's.. but Guinness. Lesson of the evening: Never drink multiple rounds of Bulmer's and then switch to Guinness.

So, needless to say, a very sloppy Gator left the hotel and walked home. Made it home fine. Went to sleep. And then hugged the porcelain throne about 8 times throughout the night and into the afternoon today. Oh, it was grand. Grand, indeed.

However, I am fine now. And no more 'grand shennanigans' for this Gator any time soon.

P.S. My mom is fine. I am fine. Thank you for your thoughts and words.
