Sunny skies and creepy old men..
So.. Monday night.. I did nothing.. and it was fantastic. I walked outside a bit because the weather was GORGEOUS -- blue skies everywhere. I found this amazing point near my flat where you can see nearly all of Galway.. the mountains.. and Galway Bay... perfect.
Tuesday.. eh.. labbed it. Fixed dinner.. and then I decided it would be a great idea to walk down to Eyre Square to use the free WiFi. Nice weather -- couldn't really complain. I find myself a quiet little park bench, pull out my laptop, and start trying to connect. No go. Damn computer. Just as I'm about to put my laptop away.. some creepy old guy (who happened to be a post-doc at the University) approached me and proceeded to hit on me.. all while I must have had the most uncomfortable expression on my face. It was awkward -- let me tell you. Especially when he tried to give me his mobile number. Finally, I found an out and made my escape.. rushing away from this minger as fast as possible... yikes -- no more sunset Eyre Square relaxing for me anymore.
So I come to find out this morning over coffee with the lab that the place where I happened to sit down used to be around the area where the 'rent boys' -- that's right.. the male prostitutes -- used to strut their stuff. Very very very awkward. And, yes, I was quite the laughing stock of the NCLA this morning beacause of it... Ahh.. the things you learn very quickly...
